Planning Department

The City of Mt. Shasta’s Planning Department is administered by the Planning Director and the Planning Commission. The Planning Department has primary responsibility for zoning and land use permits as well as long-range planning and local administration of State environmental review laws. Environmental review responsibilities are principally defined by the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), which requires preparation of environmental impact determinations, environmental impact reports, and coordination with other local, State, and Federal agencies.
