Smoke Free Mt. Shasta

The City of Mt. Shasta in 2017 passed a Smoking Control ordinance to protect the public from exposure to secondhand smoke. The ordinance prohibits smoking in the following situations:

  • All enclosed public places within the City limits of the City of Mt. Shasta
  • All enclosed areas of places of employment without exception. This includes, without limitation, common work areas, auditoriums, classrooms, conference and meeting rooms, private offices, elevators, hallways, medical facilities, cafeterias, employee lounges, stairs, restrooms, vehicles, and all other enclosed facilities.
  • In, and within 20 feet of, an outdoor restaurant seating area.
  • In outdoor recreational areas.
  • In City owned parking lots.
  • In, and within 20 feet of, all outdoor playgrounds.
  • In, and within 20 feet of, all outdoor public events.
  • In, and within, City of Mt. Shasta designated smoke-free district.

Smoke-Free District

The City Smoke-Free District is set by the Planning Commission and City Council and has special regulations. A current map of the downtown district is available online or at City Hall.
