As with most fire departments, the Mt. Shasta City Fire Department responds to a high volume of medical calls.
Approximately 65 percent of all calls for service are medical calls. All personnel are trained to First Responder level or higher.
All necessary basic life support and rescue equipment is carried on the fire department rescue vehicle. The Department fills the need for Basic Life Support with Advanced Life Support responding from the Mt. Shasta Ambulance Service.
