How to Calculate the Potential Cost of Your Water Consumption

To give you an idea of what your water consumption may cost please use the following sample rates.  These rates are provided to you as an example only. The rates eventually adopted by the City Council may be higher or lower depending on the rate study, which has yet to be performed.

Sample Water Rate Table:

Residential
Service Charge $33.85 per month
Consumption Charge $2.00 Per 1,000 gallons

Commercial meter size .75” 1” 1.5” 2” 3” 4”
Service Charge Per month $33.85 $56.53 $112.72 $180.42 $338.50 $564.28
Consumption Charge Per 1,000 gallons $2.00 $2.00 $2.00 $2.00 $2.00 $2.00

Locate the water usage on your utility bill (see example above circled in red) and follow the example below.

Example of Calculating Your Water Bill:

Residential
Divide the usage from your bill by the consumption charge.  Then add it to the monthly service charge.
If you used: 18,000 gallons 18,000 / 1,000 = 18 X $2.00 = $36.00 + $33.85 = $69.85

Commercial
Divide the usage from your bill by the consumption charge.  Then add it to the monthly service charge.
If you used: 60,000 gallons 60,000 / 1,000 = 60 X $2.00 = $120.00 + $180.42 (2” mtr) = $300.42
