How and where do I register to vote?

Mail-in voter registration forms are available at Mt. Shasta City Hall, Local Post Offices, Local Libraries, Department of Motor Vehicles and the Siskiyou County Clerk’s Office.

How do I run for public office?

Candidates for local office must fulfill the following requirements: (1) be citizens of the United States, (2) registered voters, (3) live within Mt. Shasta city limits, and (4) be 18 years of age or older.

Citizens interested in becoming City Council, City Clerk, or City Treasurer candidates will need to obtain nomination papers from the Mt. Shasta Deputy City Clerk or Siskiyou County Clerk.  You may contact the Mt. Shasta Deputy City Clerk at 530-926-7516.

How do I vote-by-mail?

Any registered voter may vote by mail. Voters may request vote-by-mail ballots by completing the request form from the back of their sample ballot and mailing it to the Registrar of Voters (Siskiyou County Clerk, Colleen Setzer). It is not necessary to wait for your sample ballot to request a vote-by-mail ballot. A vote-by-mail ballot application can also be downloaded from the Siskiyou County Clerk’s website.
 

How many registered voters are there in the City of Mt. Shasta?

There were 2,063 Registered Voters in the City of Mt. Shasta as of the November 6, 2012 General Election.
 

What is the deadline to submit registration papers prior to an election in order to qualify to vote?

The deadline for registering for an election is 15 days prior to the election date.
 

When is the next election?

General Municipal Elections are held every two years and the next General Election in the City of Mt. Shasta is scheduled for Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
 

Where are the polling locations?

Polling locations and the time polls are open may change from one election to another. Be sure to check the back of your sample ballot pamphlet for your polling place location and hours.
