The City of Mt. Shasta is in the planning phase of a library expansion project. The project consists of an addition to the current library to accommodate more people and upgrade services. The public library is located at 515 E Alma Street next to Sisson Elementary School. The library is part of the County library system which offers services and materials to the general public.
The library expansion project is managed by the City of Mt. Shasta and Mt. Shasta Engineering. Mt. Shasta Engineering was awarded the architectural and engineering contract in April of 2018 and will provide the City with building and environmental documents. Mt Shasta Engineering is a local civil engineering firm providing building design, structural engineering, consulting, infrastructure development, and large format reprographic services. They have approachable and competent staff with a broad range of experience to provide full service in-house design and civil engineering services on all types of projects. Project Description
The public library will experience close to a doubling in square footage to increase the capacity and an upgrade to the current building for ADA compliance. The concept drawings, prepared by a subcommittee of the Library Tax Advisory Committee, desire new spaces in the addition for private studying, small meetings, and more library space. These concept drawings drove the City Council in April of 2018 to begin a formal architectural and engineering process for the proposed building. The concept drawings are a starting point for the project and may change throughout the process.
Updates on the project description and building layout will continue throughout the process. Stop back for the most up to date information.
Timeline
The project timeline maps the process the engineering firm will follow while completing the planning phase of the project. The timeline will be updated with completed milestones as the project progresses.
